In this commercial, we see the consequences and real-life snowball effect that can potentially follow not setting up multi-factor authentication.

Evening, studio apartment. A young man, GUS is sitting at his desk and working on his laptop.

We cut to his lap top screen to see him enter his password before he receives the prompt: Multi-factor Authentication ‘Add Now?’ or ‘Remind me later’. With a neutral expression, he selects ‘Remind me later’ and closes his laptop screen.

Cut to an extreme close up of GUS scrolling through his banking app on his device. We see a number of deductions, all with international transaction fees following each purchase.

We see GUS is at the bus stop. We can tell some time has passed because of his stubble. Gus is deep in his phone — as we cut to a closeup of his face, we can see his expression growing concerned.

Night, studio apartment. We cut to an extreme close up of Gus’ laptop screen. ‘Session Expired’ please log in on his screen. Followed by another prompt ‘Incorrect Password’.

We cut to a close up of Gus’ face. He looks lost, the red glow illuminating his increasing anguish.

With a jump-cut, we see Gus’s credit card being declined when he tries to pay for groceries. We cut to Gus’ face, he’s looking desperate, tears welling up.

Voice Over/SUPER: What are you risking online? Don’t leave yourself exposed… Always set up multi-factor authentication.

We suddenly reverse through the closeups of Gus’ face. They flow gracefully together as a visual sequence, taking us back from desperation, to his neutral expression at the beginning of the story.

We see him make the right decision — ‘set up multi-factor authentication’, as the graphics appear.
